Adoption of Resolution 275 has been a landmark objective and result for the LGBTIQ+ advocacy before the African system of protection of human rights. While, on the one hand, resolution 275 increased the opportunities for engagement with the system and for advocacy at domestic level, on the other hand, Executive Council's Decision 1015 and the choice of the African Commission to comply and withdraw the observer status to the Coalition of African Lesbians constituted a significant backlash.

Also, following the adoption of Resolution 275, different advocacy initiatives in the regional system have been less coordinated.

This session aims at bringing together activists engaging (or interested to engage) in regional advocacy to discuss on the following issues:
1. Is the current advocacy before the African system effective?
2. Is resolution 275 utilized to its full potential and is civil society using all mechanisms?
3. If not, what is left out? What needs to be strengthened
4. Who is doing what?
5. Is more coordination between different initiatives and partnerships needed?
